Safely and effectively whiten teeth. Best results are achieved with treatment in office and augmented with take home trays. Sensitivity varies, and desensitizing agents are available. Sensitivity only occurs with the whitening treatment and is not long term.
Most dental treatments done today produce very esthetic or natural looking results. Additionally, procedures can be done to improve the appearance of teeth by closing spaces, changing color and shape, or improving appearance.
A crown covers a significant portion of a tooth. It is used when a tooth is cracked or when much of the original tooth structure is missing, broken, or mostly “filling”. (Also known as a “cap”). Crowns can be made to look very natural and can provide years of functional use.
Clear Correct uses a series of aligners (retainers) to move teeth. We have had cases demonstrating dramatic movement and have also had cases of relatively minor improvements. In fact, Clear Correct is sometimes used prior to restorative procedures to achieve ideal results.
No mercury, or amalgam, fillings are used in this office. And, composite restorations have proven to be durable, long-lasting, esthetic treatments.
Children and families are welcome at Lakeside Dental. Dr Bushnell’s experience with his own children has greatly enhanced his love and understanding of childhood needs.
If a tooth is lost, replacement with an implant is often the best option. At this office, implants are placed and restored – restoration refers to the addition of a tooth/crown to the titanium implant. (In some circumstances Dr. Bushnell refers the placement of an implant to another specialist). Usually, this process takes time – predictability and success rates are improved when time is allowed for growth of bone. Although some cases can be done faster, the process usually takes 3-7 months. A temporary tooth is used in the meantime in esthetic areas.
A procedure to replace a complete set of upper and/or lower teeth. At the same appointment, at least 4 Implants are placed and a temporary prosthetic is put in place so that a patient is never without teeth that are attached. The final result provides the closest approximation to real teeth that current dentistry can provide. Great function, and often improved esthetic can be achieved.
A surprisingly great esthetic look can be achieved with dentures. And, there is still a time and place for this treatment in today’s world. We have seen many denture patients at our office with improved quality of life. Dentures, however, are not as functional as real teeth. The best functional results are achieved using implants to support a denture.
A root canal is the only option to fix/keep a tooth when it is abscessed or infected, when decay has reached the inside, when a tooth has died, or has other internal problems. RCT involves removing and replacing the inside, living part of a tooth. Despite its bad reputation, most patients are surprised to find this procedure painless.
A way to replace a missing tooth using crowns to “bridge” the gap of the missing tooth/teeth. It is permanent and fixed in place. A bridge is used when teeth on either side of a space would benefit from a crown, or if an implant is not possible.
A crown that is used to replace a missing tooth; supported by “wings” on the inside of existing teeth. Sometimes not as stable as a traditional bridge, there are some situations that are ideal for its use.
A prosthetic to replace missing teeth. It is moveable and can be taken in and out. It is sometimes the most affordable way to replace missing teeth.
Sometimes the removal of a tooth is the best or only option. Dr Bushnell uses techniques to minimize post operative pain and improve comfort during the procedure.
After a tooth is extracted, studies show that grafting increases the overall size of bone that remains. An allograft, human cadaver sourced, material is usually used.
A device that fits over lower or upper teeth. This can protect teeth and minimize wear. It can have dramatic improvement on TMJ disfunction. It is a highly effective preventive device in many situations.
A sleep appliance is an effective treatment option to open the airway during sleep, especially when a CPAP is not tolerated. This can dramatically improve health and overall quality of life.
For patients that are susceptible to decay, have exposed root surface, dry mouth, autoimmune disorders, or have generalized sensitivity – utilizing trays with Fluoride at home is the gold standard for prevention.
If problems arise, we have time specifically designed into our schedule to accommodate our patient’s needs.
From regular cleanings to Fluoride trays, prevention is the name of the game in dentistry.
The outside and top of teeth are covered or changed to produce an ideal esthetic.
